On Queen Street in Woollahra, the Quincy fitout is a clean, white, feminine space dedicated to shoes. The fitout playfully reinvents domestic architectural detailing to create a retail space that is part dream dressing room, part shoe gallery. The store is in a very long and narrow heritage-listed terrace house. The key design move is the ‘wardrobe’ wall featuring individual shoes in softly lit boxes, drawing the shopper right to the very end of the retail space. The opposing wall displays shoes on irregular cantilevered shelves that grow out of the open staircase. The shoe and bag display reads like a domestic bookshelf. The white palette lets the product shine, and is a visual relief in the Woollahra shopping strip.
