The Make Me a Home competition called for a river-front masterplan featuring an innovative new housing type. Stockton is a cold, wet place. The proposal takes the idea of a green house as its starting point. Insulated glass shells enclose heavy boxes of private living space. The interstial becomes the living. Occupants can grow reasonably large trees within their individual houses, and the line between indoor and outdoor in blurred unexpectedly for this climate zone. The rectangular houses are scatter-planned, creating interesting relationships between the wedge-shaped forms. Small pocket parks occupy the spaces between It is a pedestrian scheme.
